It’s a duet with one part coming from the great beyond. Lisa Marie Presley recorded a duet of her father Elvis’s hit “In the Ghetto” - with her father. She laid down her own vocals over her dad’s. The duet is in honor of the 30th anniversary of The King’s death. 30 years! Where did the time go?

Shrek the Third may not have done as well with the critics, but it sure has done well financially. Dreamworks is set to capitalize on the popularity of the big green ogre, and have announced plans for two more installments in the franchise. The next one, with a working title of The Next Shrek, will come out in spring of 2010, and the fifth is scheduled for spring of 2013.

Jesse Spencer and Jennifer Morrison play hot couple Cameron and Chase on Fox’s House, but they aren’t a couple in real life anymore. The couple got engaged last year in France, and was planning to get married later this year. Now, they’ll have to adjust to just working together, playing a couple in love and dealing with the grouchy House.

Over 17 million pre-teens (and their parents, presumably) watched Disney’s premiere of High School Musical 2. The watchers were not simply kids - and I know this from personal experience. I watched it with my 10-year-old daughter, and although I didn’t love it as much as I did the first one, it was still very good. Nice to see good family films being made - and finding an audience.

Ryan Seacrest has been chosen to host the “entertainment” portion of the Super Bowl next February. Hopefully, that portion will include more than wardrobe malfunctions and aging rockers trying to prove they still have it. I watch the Super Bowl for the football, but I suppose people like the other stuff, too.

24 delayed as writer’s try to catch up Permalink | No Comments Yet

The hit Fox show 24 was supposed to start filiming the new season the end of this month, but now it looks like it will be the middle of September instead. Last season, they lost in the ratings, and also lost their spot as the critic’s darling. Now, the writers need more time to get the new season going and hopefully get it back on the right track.

Whoopi joins The View Permalink | No Comments Yet

Barbara Walters didn’t wait too long to announce a replacement for Rosie O’Donnell on The View. Whoopi Goldberg will be taking the hot seat, but I doubt she’ll be as controversial a choice as O’Donnell was. At least Whoopi seems to be intelligent and not just plain mean. I doubt we’ll see any split-screen arguments between Whoopi and Elizabeth.

Jennifer Aniston and Steve Zahn are attached to star in a new romantic comedy, Management. Do you think when Zahn started acting, he ever would have thought in his wildest dreams that he would be doing love scenes with Jennifer Aniston? Aniston plays a traveling salewoman; Zahn the man she has a one-night stand with. I like Zahn - should be funny.

Tim McGraw’s a little too popular Permalink | No Comments Yet

Tim McGraw is quite popular with the female fans at his concerts - a little too popular, in fact. Not only was he recently grabbed in the family jewels by a fan during a concert, but he also lost his wedding ring while shaking hands with ladies in the front row. Both episodes made their way onto YouTube, but there isn’t any word yet if he got his ring back. Faith, I imagine, was pretty ticked.
