Aaron Sorkin, the esteemed writer of the first few (great) seasons of The West Wing had his latest TV attempt cancelled after one season. (Remember Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip?) Sorkin’s giving up on TV for a while, and signed a deal to write three screenplays for Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks Studios. The first one will be The Trial of the Chicago 7 - no word about the other two.

Ben Affleck and his Good Will Hunting writing partner and good friend Matt Damon are playing in a charity poker tournament. They’re playing to raise money and get media coverage of the ongoing genocide in the Darfur region in Sudan. Other celebrities playing are Adam Sandler, Martin Sheen, and Damon’s Ocean’s Eleven costar Don Cheadle. Always nice to see celebrities making headlines for doing something good for a change.

Goran Visnjic, who plays ER’s heart-throb Luca Kovac, has been hit with a paternity suit. He’s been married since 1999, and he and his wife adopted a child earlier this year. Now, a Croatian woman is claiming that he is the father of her four-month-old baby. She said Visnjic said he would give her financial support, but not acknowledge the baby as his own, so she’s taking him to court. DNA tests should prove her right, if she’s telling the truth. I feel sorry for his wife.
